This page explains what information The Prebuzz collects, why it is collected and how it is handled.

Last updated: 9 September 2026

Overview

The Prebuzz collects two different kinds of information: anonymous information about how the website is used, and information you choose to send us, such as an email address for updates or a message through the contact form. We do not sell information, and we do not run advertising profiles.

Anonymous website analytics

If you accept the notice shown when you first visit, we record anonymous information about the visit so we can understand which countries and pages our readers come from. This includes:

  • the page you viewed and when
  • the country your connection appears to come from
  • the website or source that referred you, where available
  • general device, browser and operating system type
  • randomly generated visit and session identifiers stored in your browser

These records are not linked to your name or email address, and we do not store IP addresses. If you decline the notice, no analytics are recorded.

Newsletter and email signup

If you sign up for updates, we store the email address you enter and a note of where on the site you signed up. We use it only to send updates about The Prebuzz. You can ask us to remove your address at any time through the contact form.

Contact form

When you send a message we store your name, email address, the reason you selected, your subject and message, and any optional link or detail you add to a tip. We use this to read and reply to your message and, where relevant, to follow up editorially. Messages are visible to The Prebuzz editorial team through our private admin area.

Product and news tips

Tips sent through the contact form may be used as a starting point for our own research. We do not publish your name or email address alongside a story unless you have clearly asked us to and we have agreed to it.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use your browser's local and session storage to remember your analytics choice and to hold the anonymous visit identifiers described above. Full details are on our Cookie & Analytics Policy.

Service providers

The Prebuzz runs on hosting and database infrastructure operated by third-party providers. They process information on our behalf so the website can run and so submissions can be stored. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing.

How long information is kept

We keep information for as long as it remains useful for the purpose it was given — analytics records so we can understand trends over time, email addresses until you ask us to remove yours, and contact messages while they are relevant to our editorial work. We have not set fixed retention periods; if that changes, this page will be updated.

Security

Information is stored in access-controlled systems, and personal submissions are readable only by The Prebuzz administrators. No online service can promise absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold.

Your choices and rights

  • Accept or decline analytics through the notice shown on the site.
  • Clear your browser's site data to reset that choice and the anonymous identifiers.
  • Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.
  • Ask us to stop sending you updates at any time.
